After 2.5 years it was finally time for the GPPA team to get together again in person. Our 11th GPAPD Investigator Meeting took place on May 11 and 12 in Freising (a charming small town close to Munich)! Over 90 GPPAD members and guests from Europe and the U.S. participated in the workshops, lectures, science talks and discussions during the meeting.

This year, for the first time, a few external speakers and guests were invited to join the GPPAD Science session online and participate in discussions on manuscript proposals within the GPPAD project and exchange ideas on how to further develop the international type 1 diabetes research.

We also celebrated a few important milestones within the GPPAD project: Newcastle (United Kingdom) has just joined GPPAD as a new study site. Furthermore, more than 300 babies were already enrolled in our new prevention study SINT1A (Supplementation with B. INfantis for Mitigation of Type 1 Diabetes Autoimmunity).

It was great to meet everyone again and we would like to thank all participants, sponsors, scientists and presenters from 6 countries (Sweden, Poland, Belgium, UK, Germany and the U.S.) for exciting presentations and interesting discussions.

We are already looking forward to our next GPPAD Investigator Meeting in fall 2022!
